कार्तिक माह शुक्ल पक्ष की प्रतिपदा को गोवर्धन पूजा का पर्व मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष Govardhan Puja 2020, 15 नवम्बर को है गोवर्धन पूजा को अन्नकूट पूजा भी कहा जाता है। इस दिन को भगवान श्री कृष्ण द्वारा इन्द्र देवता को पराजित किये जाने के उपलक्ष्य में मनाया जाता है। आचार्य एसएस नागपाल ने बताया कि प्रतिपदा तिथि 15 नवंबर से प्रात 10: 36 बजे से प्रारम्भ होकर 16 नवम्बर को प्रात 7:06 तक है। इस दिन गोवर्धन और गाय की पूजा का विशेष महत्व होता है। इस दिन लोग घर के आंगन में गोबर से गोवर्धन पर्वत का चित्र बनाकर गोवर्धन भगवान की पूजा करते हैं।
दीपावली के अगले दिन भगवान श्री कृष्ण के निर्मित दीपक जलाकर अन्नकूट का प्रसाद अर्पित करते है और शाम को राजा बलि और भगवान विष्णु का पूजन करतें है। इस दिन गेहूं, चावल जैसे अनाज, बेसन से बनी कढ़ी और पत्ते वाली सब्जियों से बने भोजन को पकाया जाता है और भगवान श्री कृष्ण को अर्पित किया जाता है। महाराष्ट्र में यह दिन बालि प्रतिपदा या बलि पड़वा के रूप में मनाया जाता है। वामन जो कि भगवान विष्णु के एक अवतार है, उनकी राजा बलि पर विजय और बाद में बालि को पाताल लोक भेजने के कारण इस दिन उनका पुण्यस्मरण किया जाता है। यह माना जाता है कि भगवान वामन द्वारा दिए गए वरदान के कारण असुर राजा बलि इस दिन पाताल लोक से पृथ्वी लोक आता है।

Govardhan Puja 2024 दीपोत्सव के दूसरे दिन भगवान गोवर्धन की पूजा और अन्नकूट का भोग लगाया जाता है। राजधानी के श्री माधव मंदिर के अनुराग साहू ने बताया कि शाम को केवल मंदिर के पदाधिकारियों के साथ पूजा होगी। बाहरी का प्रवेश नहीं होगा। श्री खाटू श्याम मंदिर में छोटा आयोजन होगा। मंदिर के संगठन मंत्री सुधीश गर्ग ने बताया कि केवल मंदिर समिति के लोग पूजा करेंगे। इस्कॉन मंदिर के अध्यक्ष ओरिमेय श्याम दास ने बताया कि भोग लगेगा, लेकिन बाहरी लोग शामिल नहीं होंगे। रिसालदार पार्क में होने वाला तीन दिवसीय आयोजन में सिर्फ पूजा होगी। मान्यता है कि इस दिन भगवान श्रीश्री कृष्ण ने गोवर्धन पर्वत उठा कर सभी की सुरक्षा की थी।

The festival of Govardhan Puja is celebrated on Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This year Govardhan Puja is on November 15, Govardhan Puja is also called Annakoot Puja. This day is celebrated to commemorate the defeat of Lord Indra by Lord Krishna. Acharya SS Nagpal told that the Pratipada date started from 15: 36 am on November 15 till 7:06 am on November 16. On this day, Govardhan and cow worship have special significance. On this day, people worship the Govardhan God by drawing a picture of Govardhan Parvat with cow dung in the courtyard of the house.
On the next day of Diwali, they burn the lamps of Lord Krishna and offer prasad of Annakoot and worship King Bali and Lord Vishnu in the evening. On this day, food made of grains like wheat, rice, curry made from gram flour, and leafy vegetables is cooked and offered to Lord Krishna. In Maharashtra, this day is celebrated as Bali Pratipada or Bali Padwa. Vamana, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, is commemorated on this day because of his victory over King Bali and later sending Bali to Hades. It is believed that due to the boon given by Lord Vamana, the demon king Bali comes from Patal Lok on this day.
The effect of corona infection will be seen on Govardhan Puja. On the second day of the Deepotsav, worship of Lord Govardhan and enjoyment of Annakoot is offered. Anurag Sahu of Shri Madhav Temple of the capital told that in the evening, worship will be done only with the temple officials. The exterior will not enter. There will be a small event in Shri Khatu Shyam Temple. Temple organization minister Sudhish Garg said that only the people of the temple committee will worship. The chairman of ISKCON temple, Oriameya Shyam Das, told that there will be an indulgence, but outsiders will not be involved. There will be only pooja in the three-day event to be held at Risaldar Park. It is believed that on this day Lord Krishna raised the Govardhan mountain and protected everyone.
