About Assam HSLC
The Assam Secondary Education Act, 1961 (Assam Act, XXV of 1961) was passed to establish a Board of Secondary Education in the State of Assam to oversee, regulate, and develop secondary education. With the publication of Government of Assam, Education Department Notification No. 29 on January 29, 1962, the Act became law. 159/61/37 dated 29/1/1962. As a result, on March 14, 1962, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam—more commonly referred to as SEBA—was established. It began functioning in 1962 during the 11-year H.S.S.L.C. Examination. The Act mandates that the government of Assam comprised the Board with Sri S.C. Rajkhowa, D.P.I., Assam as Executive and Md. N. Islam, Reviewer of Schools (Focal Assam Circle) as Secretary.
