Infinix Zero 30 5G Review 2023
A brand called Infinix frequently goes unnoticed by smartphone users, but this is unfortunate. Since a few years ago, the business has constantly released affordable smartphones in the Indian market, frequently with features and specifications that compete with those of the industry leaders. In my thorough evaluation of the Infinix Zero 30 5G, let’s find out.
One outstanding example of such is the Infinix Zero 30 5G. At a competitive price of 23,999, the Infinix Zero 30 features a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset, up to 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, a triple camera arrangement with 108 MP, and a selfie camera with 4K at 60 fps recording capabilities. On paper, the specs seem tempting, but do they work effectively in practise?

Build & Design
There isn’t much to say negatively about the design of the Infinix Zero 30 5G. For its price, the smartphone appears quite luxurious. There are two colour options for the phone: Rome Green and Golden Hour, each of which has its own peculiarities. The glass back of the Golden Hour model has Gorilla Glass 5 protection, however it is likely to attract fingerprints. The vegan leather back on the Rome Green version, which I received for evaluation, has a plush feel about it. The phone weighs only 182 g and is extremely thin (7.9 mm).
The bottom of the back panel bears the ‘Zero’ branding, while the massive camera module is located in the upper left corner. It has a metallic texture and is slightly elevated. The camera island is golden in hue, and some people might find this design decision to be a little excessive. However, I believe it is effective for the under 25K price range and the phone sticks out. A smaller ring for the 2 MP camera and two large circular camera rings are included. Under the smaller camera ring, there is a circular flash as well.

Display
A premium-looking curved display with thin bezels on the sides and somewhat wider bezels on the top and bottom is featured on the Infinix Zero 30 5G. It has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The 144 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel incredibly fluid, and happily, it also applies to apps like YouTube and Instagram, which can occasionally not happen on low-cost phones.
The display has 2,160 PWM dimming and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut support. Therefore, using your phone in the dark reduces the pressure on your eyes. The display is colourful and quite accurate. Additionally, it has Widevine L1 certification, allowing OTT platforms to stream HD content. Netflix does not recognise the phone’s HDR10 capabilities, which is unfortunate as DRM Info claims it does. I’m hoping a software update from Infinix will resolve this.
Additionally, for the price, the display is extremely bright. Its maximum brightness is 950 nits, however in my tests, I only measured about 915 nits in High Brightness Mode. Thus, screen legibility in direct sunlight is not particularly problematic.

Performance
The Infinix Zero 30 5G, which features the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC, turns out to be quite a performance. Even if it undoubtedly isn’t the mid-range phone with the fastest performance, it certainly gives its rivals a run for their money. The phone has 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM; I reviewed the latter. Multitasking is incredibly seamless on this device.
Additionally, Infinix enhances this with 8 GB and 9 GB of Virtual RAM on the 8 GB and 12 GB RAM models, respectively. Given the amount of today’s apps, images, and videos, I commend Infinix for including 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage across both variants of the phone. However, there isn’t any expandable storage, which is frustrating because it would be the icing on the cake.
The Infinix Zero 30 performed admirably in benchmarks! It received one of the highest marks in its budget range, but the potent Redmi K50i with its Dimensity 8100 5 nm SoC defeated it. The Infinix Zero 30 was once again among the top devices on GeekBench. Redmi K50i (review) outperformed it in the Multi-Core test, but the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G (review) outperformed it in the Single Core test. But nevertheless, excellent results! The phone also performed exceptionally well in PCMark Work—the best in our tests—so it can be trusted to handle any duties that are connected to productivity.
Camera
The camera system of the Infinix Zero 30 is rather good. In addition to a 13 MP ultrawide camera and a meagre 2 MP macro lens, the device has a primary Samsung ISOCELL HM6 camera with 108 MP and OIS. The phone contains a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor for taking selfies. Additionally, Infinix has included up to 4K at 60 frames per second video on both the front and rear cameras, which is unusual at this pricing.
In natural or artificial lighting, the 108 MP primary camera produces fairly respectable results. Both the dynamic range and the detail preservation are respectable. If you pixel-peep, you’ll see some detail loss, but the quality is still high enough for quick social media sharing. The colours, however, can be hit or miss. Even though there was no yellow lighting in the room, I noticed that the camera preferred to slightly yellowize the scene in indoor lighting. Since it did not occur outside, there must be a problem with the phone’s AI processing.

Battery
The 5,000 mAh battery in the Infinix Zero 30 5G supports 68 W PD 3.0 rapid charging. Our testing show that the phone can be fully charged from empty to full in 49 minutes, which is fairly good. Although the Infinix Zero 30 5G’s battery life is not particularly impressive, it is enough for casual users. Although its battery performance isn’t quite on par with that of the Vivo V29e or Samsung Galaxy F54, it nevertheless holds its own.
The phone lasted a respectable 14 hours and 14 minutes in our 4K video loop test, which is fairly impressive. For the majority of casual users, the phone’s battery should last more than a day; however, medium to heavy users might need to plug it in at night or right before bed.

Verdict
A superb mid-range smartphone that is well worth its asking price is the Infinix Zero 30 5G. The AMOLED display is vivid and bright, the performance is top-notch for the price, and the battery life is also quite good. The design is also excellent. The single major Android update, which may a deal breaker for some, and the subpar low-light camera performance are my greatest complaints (particularly because daylight shots actually look very well).
The company is growing its network of service locations throughout India, so after-sales support shouldn’t be an issue either. The software has also advanced significantly, although there is still potential for improvement. Overall, the Infinix Zero 30 5G might be one of the most well-rounded mid-range smartphones under 25,000 assuming you don’t take a lot of photos in low light.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Infinix Zero 30 5G is a standout smartphone that delivers impressive performance and cutting-edge features. With its powerful 5G capabilities, users can experience lightning-fast internet speeds and seamless streaming and gaming experiences. The phone’s sleek design and vibrant display make it a pleasure to use, while its high-quality camera system captures stunning photos and videos. The long-lasting battery ensures that users can stay connected throughout the day without worrying about running out of power. Overall, the Infinix Zero 30 5G is a top-notch smartphone that offers exceptional value for its price point. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast or simply looking for a reliable and feature-packed device, this phone is definitely worth considering.
