OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Review 2023
The new OnePlus Nord 2T 5G appears to have everything, even if there are just slight improvements over the Nord 2 (Review). Although OnePlus’ first ‘T’ model in the Nord series isn’t a completely new phone, it does seem to get the fundamentals right by featuring a good primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a proper mid-range chipset, an enhanced fast-charging system, a nice display.
Indeed, for a somewhat cheaper starting price of Rs. 28,999, it appears to offer everything one might want. I’ve used the Nord 2T 5G for a few weeks, and here’s what I think of it. However, there are rival smartphones, like the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G (Review), which provide similar hardware at an even cheaper price. So how does the Nord 2T 5G weigh up against the competition and is it the ideal mid-ranger.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Price
The pricing of the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is Rs. 28,999, and the price with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is Rs. 33,999. Two finishes—a matte black shade named Grey Shadow and a greenish Jade Fog—are offered for the phone. For review, I was given the 12GB model in the Grey Shadow finish.
Design & display
The iQOO Z6 Pro (review) and the OnePlus Nord 2T are very similar physically. To begin with, the Nord 2T comes equipped with a sizable camera array that holds three sensors, just as the Z6 Pro. In fact, at least from the back, it can be difficult to distinguish between two phones aside from where the LED flash module is placed. Thank goodness, OnePlus offered the gadget in a variety of colours, including the stunning Grey Shadow shade that was provided to me for review. I was reminded of the company’s sandstone-finished products by the paint job’s exquisite appearance.
The Nord 2T also lacks a headphone port, so even though the 8.2mm frame is rather thin, I think OnePlus could have reduced it by a few more millimetres. Nevertheless, although weighing only 190 grammes, the smartphone has a substantial feel in the hand. You’ll also be happy to learn that the business has included the OnePlus alert slider with the device. So you can quickly change the sound profiles on your smartphone. The device comes with a USB Type-C port and a speaker grille at the bottom for the remaining I/O.
The Nord 2T’s display is even more similar to that of its predecessor, the Nord 2. For example, the gadget has a 6.43-inch, FHD+, Super AMOLED display that can refresh at 90Hz. The panel has a respectable maximum brightness level of 800 nits, however the smartphone struggles to automatically adjust the display’s brightness by properly accounting for environmental light. Aside from that, the panel of the Nord 2T is gorgeous and features vibrant colours, deep blacks, and wide viewing angles. Due to the smartphone’s WideVine L1 certification out of the box, you can even transmit HD media to the television.

Camera
The camera arrangement on the OnePlus Nord 2T is identical to that of the OnePlus Nord 2. The smartphone has three cameras, including a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP monochrome lens. The smartphone comes with a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies. Given that both phones have the same hardware, it makes sense to presume that the photographs taken by the Nord 2T and its predecessor, the Nord 2, are very comparable. Now, that’s not necessarily a negative thing because the Nord 2 was one of the top camera-focused phones from the previous year.
Regarding the 8MP ultra-wide, the sensor provides sufficient sharpness in the centre of the picture. The camera’s 120-degree field of view pleased me, although it does little to reduce fringing at the frame’s boundaries. That’s not all either; the UW sensor has a tendency to capture images with a warmer tone, and the difference in colour temperature between the primary and ultrawide sensors can be seen easily. Images taken in portrait mode, however, had a pleasing appearance and produced a convincing blur effect. Last but not least, I discovered that using a mono sensor instead of a macro or telephoto lens makes little sense.

Performance
A processor from MediaTek called the Dimensity 1300 powers the OnePlus Nord 2T. It is the first smartphone using this processor on the Indian market. Given that the core types and clock speeds are unchanged from the Dimensity 1200 SoC, it doesn’t appear to offer many improvements. For improved gaming performance, MediaTek has repackaged the Dimensity 1200 with HyperEngine 5.
The Dimensity 1300 SoC from OnePlus is coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR 4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The OnePlus 2T that we evaluated featured 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. The phone handled everything with good performance. The apps open quickly and exit quickly. Chrome makes it incredibly easy and quick to browse social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. It was also a nice experience multitasking. The majority of the time, gaming on the Nord 2T is also fluid. Even with high frame rates and HD-quality graphics, games like CoD Mobile and Asphalt 9 performed admirably.

Battery
With light to moderate usage, the 4500mAh battery inside the OnePlus Nord 2T can power the device for an entire day. Calling, texting, browsing, viewing videos, listening to music, and other activities may be used. However, if you play video games frequently and for extended periods of time, you’ll need to charge the device sooner.
The Nord 2T offers 80W SuperVOOC wired charging for people with limited free time. The 4500mAh battery may be fully charged by the charger in 32 minutes. As a result, we can state that the battery and charging capabilities of the OnePlus Nord 2T are flawless.
Verdict
The OnePlus Nord 2T is a fantastic upgrade from the Nord 2. Although the device may not appear remarkable at first glance, it has a number of advantages. It boasts a quick CPU, a fantastic display, lightning-quick charging, and a retro-inspired appearance. Along with having a tidy user interface, it is 5G ready and has an IP52 rating. Although the refresh rate is on the low side and the camera placement is not the best, those are minor flaws that may overlooked. OnePlus Nord 2T is an option if you’re searching for an all-arounder with 5G in the sub-30,000 pricing range.
Conclusion
The company’s market share in the Indian mass market has grown thanks in part to the OnePlus Nord series. To further strengthen its position, OnePlus has unveiled the Nord 2T smartphone for the Indian market. OnePlus Nord 2T 5G Review FAQ’S
Is the OnePlus Nord 2T a good phone?
It is the replacement for the Dimensity 1200, which in 2021 also provided power for a number of midrange smartphones. For their mid-range priced smartphones, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) frequently choose the Dimensity 1300 SoC. I've never seen any significant performance difficulties with the OnePlus Nord 2T.
Is OnePlus Nord 2T 5G good?
OnePlus Nord 2T edges in front of its rivals as the best all-rounder in its category. And that's just about all you can ask of a phone at any price point.
Does OnePlus Nord 2T 5G have heating issue?
The battery and the processor are two areas where the Nord 2T outperforms the Nord 2. First things first: the phone hardly warms up when utilizing hotspot, even after a lengthy charging session. It only began to become warm after 30 to 40 minutes of continuous use when used to capture 1080p films outside.
Which is better Nord 2T or Nord 2?
Naturally, the OnePlus Nord 2T is quicker and more powerful, but only marginally so. The batteries in both gadgets have a 4500mAh capacity. But the Nord 2T supports 80W fast-charging while the Nord 2 supports 65W fast-charging.
