Oppo F21s Pro 5G Review: Oppo is one of the top names that come to mind when someone mentions a camera smartphone. Expectations for the other phones from the manufacturer are already high due to the Oppo Reno 7 series’ excellent performance. The business recently added the F21 Pro and F21 Pro 5G to its lineup of smartphones, along with distinctive designs and AI-enabled camera functions.
But does that matter in the end? Absolutely not! Everything is required for a positive overall experience, including a fluid user interface, potent performance, long battery life, and a rich display. The Oppo F21 Pro has already been reviewed and passes various tests, but does the Oppo F21 Pro 5G deliver a truly rich user experience? Does it distinguish itself in the cutthroat market for mid-range smartphones? This is what I have discovered after using the Oppo F21 Pro 5G for a few weeks.
Oppo F21s Pro 5G Review 2023
The Oppo F21 Pro 5G is the latest entrant in the ever-so-growing mid-range 5G smartphones in India. The smartphone was launched with the Oppo F21 Pro, which is a 4G only smartphone. The Oppo F series has always been known for offering a striking design with decent specifications, and the Oppo F21 Pro 5G follows the same trend.
The Oppo F21 Pro 5G is the most recent addition to India’s rapidly expanding mid-range 5G smartphone market. The smartphone was introduced with the Oppo F21 Pro, a 4G-only model. The Oppo F21 Pro 5G continues the tradition established by the Oppo F series of combining a beautiful look with respectable features.

Oppo F21s Pro 5G Review Price
The starting pricing for the OPPO F21s Pro 5G in India is Rs. 22,830. At flipkart.com, the OPPO F21s Pro 5G can be purchased for as little as Rs 22,830. This OPPO F21s Pro 5G is the base model with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It comes in Dawnlight Gold and Starlight Black.
Display
The 6.43-inch AMOLED screen of the Oppo F21 Pro 5G makes for a vivid, high-contrast, and bright viewing experience. The low point of this device is its 60Hz refresh rate at a time when smartphones may potentially give up to 144Hz. Surprisingly, both the F21 Pro and Oppo’s own Reno 7 5G offer a 90Hz refresh rate.
Well, despite having a 60 Hz display, there are no temper tantrums while switching between apps or using it often. Additionally, its in-display fingerprint sensor reacts quickly. A greater refresh rate in this price range would have been better, but the impact of a low refresh rate display is what degrades the experience for heavier programmes.

Performance
Oppo smartphones are about more than simply camera quality! The Oppo F21 Pro 5G, which has a Snapdragon 695 CPU and 8GB RAM inside, serves as evidence for this claim. It worked well without any lags or stutters, even when using intensive video-editing and gaming apps like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile in daily life. However, keep in mind that only a brief period of gaming on low settings results in acceptable performance.
The smartphone runs Android 11 and ColorOS 12, which is pretty disappointing, especially considering that it has its own 4G version running Android 12. Although the update is being prepared, the precise date on which it will be delivered to you is currently unknown. Well, after you set up the phone, the pre-installed applications—some of which are from Oppo, but most of which belong to other companies—will keep you amused. The good news is that if they are not needed, you can uninstall them. Additionally, dealing with adverts is hardly ever necessary. The Oppo F21 Pro 5G is a feature-rich, user-friendly device overall. You can customise split-screen, floating windows, basic mode, Oppo’s Omoji, and more based on your preferences.
The audio and connectivity performance is next. It has a 3.5mm audio jack and a single speaker option that is pretty loud, although at its loudest setting, you must cope with sound distortion. Nevertheless, I was unable to test it during the review because 5G is not yet available in India. However, using my 4G SIM for both voice and video calls was hassle-free.

Camera
Thankfully, the Oppo F21 Pro 5G is not that uncommon of an instance where Oppo disappoints with its camera performance. The triple-camera arrangement of the F21 Pro 5G produces the overall rich visual output that we have come to expect from the firm. It consists of a 64MP primary camera sensor paired with a 2MP macro and another 2MP depth camera. You get a 16MP selfie camera up front.
Well, the Oppo F21 Pro 5G’s USP is its Portrait mode. Yes, it is! The portraits are made to appear vivid, bright, and full of colour thanks to a number of options like Bokeh flare, selfie HDR, and AI enhancement. However, it gives the skin a little brighter appearance than it actually has. If you are interested in videography, be aware that there is no picture stabilisation and that the maximum resolution available is 1080p. However, natural light is sufficient to capture high-quality films.
Battery
Inside the box, the Oppo includes a 33W SUPERVOOC charger and a 4500mAh battery. The F21 Pro 5G battery life lasted the full day when used regularly on workdays. I made 1-2 phone calls, spent the typical 2-3 hours online and on social media, and played background music during this period. To this, browsing YouTube and playing games were added over the weekend, and the battery life still lasted up to a day. I was able to charge it from a 10 percent battery to 50 percent using its 33W Supervooc charging in 25 minutes. While getting a full refill took an additional 50 minutes. It takes an hour and fifteen minutes on average to charge.

Verdict
The Oppo F21 Pro 5G’s main selling point is its camera quality. It provides stunning photographs in daylight, from picture-perfect portraits to overall hues and detailing. However, Oppo still needs to come up with something genuinely spectacular for night photography. But as we’ve already stated, it goes beyond cameras. The F21 Pro 5G offers a respectable battery life, a chic design, a bright display, a simple user interface with many capabilities, and a respectable all-around performance for daily chores. While its 60Hz refresh rate display costs Rs. 27,999, there is undoubtedly room for improvement.
Conclusion
However, we can’t ignore the competition in the same price bracket, and the biggest rival is none other than its own Reno 7 5G, which costs only us dollar 1,000 more but offers an improved selfie camera, a higher refresh rate, and a MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset. In addition, the Vivo V21 5G, which costs Rs. 26,699 and has a 44MP front camera and a faster refresh rate, may be another choice. In any case, if the camera is not a top concern for you, the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge is a nice option with a good display and 120W fast charging.
