बिहार के वैशाली जिले के रहनेवाले मुकेश कुमार की कहानी बेहद दिलचस्प है. स्कूल के दिनों में एथलेटिक्स में 4 गोल्ड मेडल जीतने वाले मुकेश पर उनके अध्यापकों को बहुत गर्व था. सभी ने उनका हौसला बढ़ाते हुए कहा था कि वह भविष्य में बहुत अच्छा करेंगे. मुकेश का कहना है कि वह 400 मीटर दौड़ के एथलीट हैं. इतना ही नहीं बल्कि उन्होंने स्टेट लेवल चैंपियनशिप में गोल्ड मेडल भी जीता है.

मुकेश के अध्यापकों ने दिया उनका साथ
मुकेश के अनुसार इस मुश्किल घड़ी में उनके शिक्षकों ने ही उनका साथ दिया और डिप्रेशन से बाहर आने में उनकी मदद की. उनके शिक्षकों ने कहा कि भले ही तुम आज हार गए हो लेकिन एक दिन तुम जरूर जीतोगे. अपने अध्यापकों द्वारा बढ़ाए मनोबल से मुकेश ने फिर से ट्रेनिंग शुरू की. इसके बाद उन्होंने अपनी ट्रेनिंग हमेशा जारी रखी.
उनका मानना है कि उनको अब अपनी ट्रेनिंग करने से कोई नहीं रोक सकता. यहां तक कोरोना महामारी भी उन्हें उनके फैसले से हिला न सकी. इस दौरान सभी स्टेडियम बंद थे लेकिन मुकेश ने गंगा घाट जाकर अपनी प्रैक्टिस जारी रखी.
