Fisker OCEAN EXTREME Price in India 2024, Launch Date, Full Specifications, Colors, Booking, Reviews

Fisker OCEAN EXTREME- The Fisker Ocean is gaining attention with its attractive design, innovative features, and impressive driving distance. The initial batch of U.S.-spec Oceans was sold by the California-based startup in late 2024. When we had the opportunity to test drive one, we were impressed by its quick acceleration and well-balanced handling. While the Sport trim, which is more affordable, comes with a smaller battery and less driving distance, the other models can travel up to 360 miles on a single charge—a remarkable achievement for an electric SUV.

In comparison to other electric vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq and Genesis Electrified GV70, the Fisker Ocean stands out not only for its stylish appearance but also for its superior range. The interior of the Fisker Ocean is thoughtfully designed and incorporates recycled materials, including plastics recovered from the ocean. Considering that the company is relatively new and untested, purchasing an Ocean requires some level of trust. However, on the other side of that leap of faith awaits a stylish SUV with a strong commitment to sustainability.

For the 2024 Ocean lineup, a new model called the Force E has been introduced. This model is designed for off-road use and comes equipped with more aggressive all-terrain tires and an adjusted suspension system that provides additional ground clearance. On the other hand, the limited-edition One trim, which was initially included in the Ocean lineup during its first year on the market, has been removed. The entry-level model in the Ocean lineup is now the Sport model. It is powered by a single electric motor that drives the front wheels and delivers 275 horsepower.

The Ultra, Force E, and Extreme models are equipped with an electric motor on each axle, resulting in all-wheel drive capability. Among these models, the fastest version is estimated to reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.7 seconds. It also boasts an impressive peak output of 564 horsepower and 543 pound-feet of torque. All models in the lineup come with 20-inch wheels fitted with low-rolling-resistance tires as standard. However, there is an option to select a set of performance tires mounted on larger 22-inch wheels.

Fisker OCEAN EXTREME Features

The Fisker Ocean is quite heavy, weighing 5,369 lb. To give you some context, the Tesla Model Y Performance weighs 4,398 lbs, which is 971 lbs or 18 percent lighter. On the other hand, the heaviest Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance weighs 5,018 lbs. The car’s substantial weight can be attributed to its large battery. If you’re someone who values power, you’ll appreciate that switching to drive mode allows you to make use of all 564 horsepower. This feature makes the Fisker Ocean more appealing to enthusiasts rather than individuals who prioritize fuel efficiency and are likely to spend most of their time in front-wheel-drive Earth mode. The front-drive version of the Ocean can tow up to 2040 pounds, while the all-wheel-drive versions have a towing capacity of up to 4000 pounds.

Top speed

Comparing the Fisker Ocean Extreme to the Tesla Model Y Performance, it is worth noting that both vehicles have all-wheel drive and similar acceleration capabilities (3.7 seconds versus 3.5 seconds, excluding rollout). Notably, the Tesla has a higher top speed of 155 mph. In terms of battery capacity, the Fisker Ocean boasts a significantly larger battery at 113 kWh compared to the estimated 80 kWh battery in the Model Y Performance, although exact figures for the latter are yet to be confirmed and are based on unofficial reports.

Battery Pack

The Fisker Ocean Extreme is equipped with a substantial 113-kilowatt-hour battery pack, out of which 106 kilowatt-hours are usable. As a result, it achieves an impressive EPA Combined range of 360 miles. It should be emphasized that this range specifically applies to the standard 20-inch wheels and not the larger 22-inch ones. Generally, opting for bigger wheels can slightly decrease the range by a few percentage points.

When it comes to the powertrain, there are two motors available – one located in the front and another at the rear. These motors work together to provide an all-wheel drive system and can generate up to approximately 420 kilowatts of power when in boost mode. The acceleration of the car, from 0 to 60 miles per hour, takes just 3.7 seconds (with a rollout of 1 foot). The energy consumption of the Fisker Ocean One/Extreme, including charging losses, is estimated to be around 92 MPGe or 366 watt-hours per mile. This is an area that definitely has room for improvement.

Range & Charging

The Ocean is equipped with various battery sizes, and the most extensive pack, which has a capacity of 106.0 kWh, can provide an estimated range of 360 miles according to the EPA. Additionally, the Ocean is designed to be compatible with the majority of electric vehicle charging stations. To further enhance the ownership experience, Fisker has partnered with Electrify America to offer owners a certain amount of complimentary charging, although the specific details have not been disclosed. The Ocean utilizes a 400-volt architecture that enables it to support DC-fast charging rates of up to 200 kW. If connected to a DC-fast charger that can meet this requirement, it would take approximately 35 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% battery capacity.

Fuel Economy

According to the EPA, the Ocean Extreme has an estimated MPGe of 92 combined, 99 in the city, and 84 on the highway. These ratings are similar to those of its well-known rivals like the Genesis Electrified GV70 and Cadillac Lyriq, and slightly better than the BMW iX.

The Ocean’s interior boasts a simple design complemented by easy-to-use controls and sustainable materials made from reclaimed sources. The dashboard includes a sleek digital gauge cluster and attractive materials that extend across it, along with a large touchscreen that can rotate in all models except the base model. As the entry-level Ocean is positioned as an affordable electric vehicle, the number of luxurious standard features is limited. However, all models come equipped with a rearview mirror featuring a digital camera feed, a power-adjustable steering column, and a power rear liftgate.

Fisker OCEAN EXTREME Specification

The Fisker Ocean Extreme boasts an EPA range of 360 miles, which is nearly 20% higher than the Tesla Model Y Performance. However, there is a slight catch. The range ratings are based on 20-inch wheels for Fisker and 21-inch wheels for Tesla, putting Tesla at a disadvantage in this aspect. It is expected that the Fisker Ocean Extreme would offer noticeably better range, but a direct test would be required to confirm this.

The cabin provides ample legroom and headroom, along with excellent visibility from all angles. While the Sport trim features a fixed-glass panoramic sunroof, the rest of the lineup comes with a panoramic glass roof that has a retractable panel. By activating the California mode on this roof, not only does it open up, but also the rear and side glass panels, creating an open-air experience akin to that of a convertible. Our only hope is that the back seat and cargo area prove to be more practical compared to those found in Fisker’s ill-fated sedan model.
