A rally in Bhopal to press for the demand was attended by 10,000 people, including Yadav leaders from the Congress and BJP. The rally in Bhopal, which was the culmination of multiple smaller rallies in Gwalior, Indore and Sehore, had around 10,000 people participating and was addressed by Param Vir Chakra Yogendra Yadav.
The organisers claimed the rally was non-political but Yadav community leaders from both the Congress and the BJP were present. Among those who had gathered included former Union minister and Congress leader Arun Yadav, BJP leader and MLA Krishna Gaur and former MP Laxmi Narayan Yadav.

About Ahir regiment Demand 2024
The other demands raised by the community included one to create a memorial for the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 war, in which many Indian troops belonging to the Yadav community were killed, and inclusion of Rao Tularam, another Yadav icon, in the school syllabus.
The organisers claim the demand for a separate Ahir regiment has been longstanding. The issue has been raised in Parliament too by various Yadav leaders and an agitation was held in Delhi last March.
What would a separate Ahir regiment accomplish? For one, events like the rally in Bhopal on February 26 help the community put up a show of strength ahead of the assembly elections in MP in November. The state has a population of around 82.5 million, of which 50 per cent are OBCs. Among the OBCs, the Yadavs are estimated to be the biggest community.
Yadavs, especially from Haryana, have been part of the Army for years. Yadavs from Haryana have been recruited in fixed class and mixed class regiments of the Army. The Army has denied plans to set up new regiments based on class or caste.

Ahir regiment Demand 2024 (अहीर रेजिमेंट के गठन की मांग)
अहीर रेजिमेंट के गठन की मांग को लेकर राष्ट्रीय अहीर रेजिमेंट संघर्ष समिति के तत्वावधान में समाज के लोगों की रविवार को हरियाणा के नारनौल के गोद बलाहा गांव में महापंचायत का आयोजन हुआ। इसमें हरियाणा, राजस्थान सहित अन्य प्रदेशों से समाज के हजारों की संख्या में लोगों ने भाग लिया। इस दौरान महापंचायत स्थल तक रैली निकाली गई।
महापंचायत में पुरुषों के साथ-साथ महिलाओं की भी भागीदारी रही। इस मौके पर वक्ताओं ने केंद्र सरकार से सेना में जल्द अहीर रेजिमेंट का गठन करने की मांग की। महापंचायत में वक्ता के रूप में इनेलो के वरिष्ठ नेता राव होशियार सिंह, रवि यादव दौंगड़ा अहीर, सर्व समाज मंच के अध्यक्ष राधेश्याम गोमला, सतवीर झुकिया, सुरेंद्र सिंह, आनंद सिंह मिलकपुर, मास्टर महेंद्र सिंह, इंद्र यादव मुंडावर आदि मुख्य रूप से मौजूद रहे। वहीं नांगल चौधरी विधायक डॉ. अभय सिंह यादव ने भी महापंचायत में पहुंचकर अहीर रेजिमेंट के गठन के लिए अपना समर्थन दिया।
वक्ताओं ने लोगों संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि अहीर रेजिमेंट उनका हक और वे इसे लेकर रहेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि वे पिछले कई वर्षों से सेना में अहीर रेजिमेंट के गठन की मांग को लेकर संघर्ष कर रहे हैं। वे कई बार केंद्र सरकार व प्रदेश सरकार के नाम ज्ञापन सौंप चुके हैं।
मगर सरकार ने समाज की मांग की तरफ कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया। इससे समाज में सरकार के खिलाफ रोष व्याप्त है। वक्ताओं ने कहा कि देश की आजादी में अहीर समाज के लोगों का महत्वपूर्ण योगदान रहा है। इसमें अनेक रण बांकुरों ने देश के लिए बलिदान भी दिया।
अहीर रेजिमेंट गठन को लेकर गोद बलाहा में हुई महापंचायत में हरियाणा, राजस्थान सहित अन्य प्रदेश के लोगों ने बढ़-चढ़कर भाग लिया, इसमें नारायणपुर, हरजीपुर, गुंती, पुहानिया, मानपुरा, झुंझनू, सागा, ढाणी बिरज, बरसाव नखरोला, निहालोठ, कलाखरी, ढाणी भांडोर, खेड़की दोला, प्रहलादवास, मुंडावर, अजीतगढ़, मिलकपुर सहित जिला महेंद्रगढ़ से शोभापुर, हमींदपुर, हसनपुर, डोहर कला, खामपुरा, धोलेड़ा, दौंगड़ा अहीर, मुंडिया खेड़ा, सेका मंढाना, पटिकरा, कोजिंदा, मंडलाना आदि गांवों के लोग शामिल रहे।

देश की आजादी से पहले व बाद की लड़ाइयों में अहीरों का नाम रहा आगे
महापंचायत में पहुंचे नांगल चौधरी विधायक डॉ. अभय सिंह यादव ने उपस्थित लोगों को संबोधित किया कि देश की आजादी से पहले व आजाद भारत की जितनी भी लड़ाइयां हुई हैं, उनमें अहीरों का नाम आगे रहा है। चाहे वह रेजांगला की लड़ाई हो या फिर टाइगर हिल की। सभी लड़ाइयों में अहीर सैनिकों ने साहस दिखाया है। विधायक ने महापंचायत में अहीर रेजिमेंट की इस लड़ाई में अपना समर्थन दिया।

हक की लड़ाई के लिए नहीं हटेंगे पीछे
महापंचायत में उपस्थित वक्ताओं ने एक स्वर में कहा कि अहीर रेजिमेंट उनका हक है और इस हक की लड़ाई में पीछे नहीं हटेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि वे लंबे समय से संघर्ष कर रहे हैं। कुछ समय पूर्व अहीर रेजिमेंट की मांग को लेकर खेड़की दोला टोल प्लाजा पर लंबे समय तक धरना दिया गया था। कई बार यात्रा व अन्य प्रकार से सरकार के समक्ष अपनी मांग रख चुके हैं, लेकिन सरकार लगातार उनकी मांग की अनदेखी कर रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह समाज की जायज मांग और सरकार को उनकी मांग को मानते हुए जल्द सेना में अहीर रेजिमेंट का गठन करना चाहिए।
