कार्तिक पूर्णिमा का सनातन धर्म में विशेष महत्व है । इस दिन देवता स्वर्ग लोक से उतरकर दीपदान करने पृथ्वी पर आते हैं । इसलिए इस दिन को देव दीपावली के नाम से भी जाना जाता है । यह पर्व दिवाली के 15 दिन बाद कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन मनाया जाता है ।
धर्म नगर काशी में इस दिन गंगा स्नान, पूजन, हवन और दीपदान का कार्यक्रम किया जाता है । पूरी काशी को रौशनी से सजाया जाता है और घाटों को दीप जलाकर जगमगाया जाता है । इस सुंदर नजारे को देखने के लिए बड़ी संख्या में लोग काशी आते हैं । और इस बार प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी और मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ जी भी आ रहे हैं । लेकिन आखिर काशी में ही क्यों मनाया जाता है देव दीपावली का त्योहार ? आइए जानते हैं….

देव दिवाली की पहली मान्यता
देव दीपावली को लेकर दूसरी मान्यता है कि देव उठनी एकादशी पर भगवान विष्णु चतुर्मास की निद्रा से जागते हैं और चतुर्दशी को भगवान शिव । इस खुशी में देवी-देवता काशी में आकर घाटों पर दीप जलाते हैं और खुशियां मनाते हैं । इस उपलक्ष्य में काशी में विशेष आरती का आयोजन किया जाता है ।
देव दीवाली की तीसरी मान्यता
तीसरी मान्यता है कि काशी का यह उत्सव करीब तीन दशकर पहले कुछ उत्साही लोगों ने शुरू किया था। नारायणी नाम के एक सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता ने युवाओं की टोली बनाकर काशी के घाटों पर कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन दीपक जलाए थे, तभी से इस कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत हुई । धीरे-धीरे करके कई लोग इस दिन घाटों पर दीपक जलाने लगे और इसकी लोकप्रियता बढ़ने लगी ।

2 . First recognition of Dev Diwali
There is a legend behind celebrating Dev Deepavali in Kashi. According to the legend, Lord Shiva and mother Parvati’s son Kartikeya killed Tarakasura and returned the gods to heaven.
After the slaying of Tarakasura, his three sons vowed to avenge the gods. He did penance to Brahmaji and everyone asked for a boon. In the boon, he said that he said that when these three cities come together in the Abhijit Nakshatra, then only the impossible chariot, the impossible arrow will kill them without anger. Taking this boon as Tripurasura immortal, he started terrorizing and persecuting and he also drove the gods back from heaven. Troubled gods reached the shelter of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva reached Kashi and made a chariot of Sun and Moon and killed him in Abhijit Nakshatra. In this joy, the deity arrived at Kashi and donated the lamp, and celebrated the celebration of Dev Diwali.
3. Second recognition of Dev Diwali
The second belief about Dev Deepawali is that Lord Vishnu wakes up from the sleep of Chaturmas on Lord Ekadashi and Lord Shiva on Chaturdashi. In this happiness, the deities come to Kashi and light a lamp on the ghats and celebrate it. A special aarti is organized in Kashi on this occasion.
4. Third recognition of Dev Diwali
The third belief is that this festival of Kashi started about three decades ago by some enthusiasts. A social worker named Narayani made a group of youths and lit lamps on the day of Kartik Purnima on the ghats of Kashi, since then this program started. Gradually, many people started lighting lamps on the ghats on this day and its popularity started increasing.
